Let’s be harmless to each other

“You and me? We’re different. We agree to be harmless to each other.”

– Abby Jimenez in Yours Truly

If all the words I want to say to you, filled the rooms of this tiny home, they’d spill out of the windows and doors. They’d float like slips of paper through the air, swirling and twirling toward the ground.

What if one fell into the hand of a passerby? Would he hold it in his hand and wonder who was whispering sweet nothings to him? Or would he wonder who the lucky man is – so loved by his beloved that she speaks life into him at every opportunity?

If we piled up these slips & read them one by one, they’d tell you a story. They’d tell you that hurting you is a terrible feeling and that I’d never, ever want to intentionally do it – ever. They’d tell you that I need and want you literally every day of my life. They’d tell you that I miss you, even when it’s only been a few hours since I’ve seen or talked to you. They’d tell a story of a woman that is hurting right now – but loves anyway.

What I want is you, the slips of paper would say. They’d say all I want is you. One would surely say let’s agree be harmless to each other.

All these things I want to say are running out of room. Let us speak of them.
