Microdosing Fiction (a Story in 100 Words) – Willow

Heisler Park – Laguna Beach, Ca – Photo by: Allie from Pexels.

On a weekday morning, thirty-five years ago, Willow Ellison took her daughter to a park in Laguna Beach. She left her sitting there on the bench. She hid out of sight until a Good Samaritan decided to call the police.

When the OC Sheriff picked up Arden in his arms, Willow knew it was time to go. At least her baby was safe now, right? Dwayne – her sometimes pimp, her sometimes boyfriend – said it was the only way they’d make it. Arden had to go if they had any hope of getting off the street.

Willow chose herself.

**This story is a quick vignette featuring three characters from my novel in progress (Land of Canaan). I’ve never written anything for this book from Willow’s vantage point. Super intrigued by this exercise. Hmm . . .
