Hazel Eyes – A Love Letter

Hazel Eyes – A Love Letter

Your hair curls in a way that makes me long to run my hands through it. When your hair is shorter, I miss those curls. You with your changing hazel eyes and friendship that feels like home – were unexpected and unplanned. We make a great team, if you ask me. I’ve only ever known this once before.

But there’s a space in my chest where the anxiety lives. If I had to name the beast that lives in my chest, I’d call it grief – grief over all the loss. The anxiety shows up taunting me – telling me that I’ll never be yours. I wonder how I’ll pry my heart free.

If I do, it won’t be for lack of love, longing, or desire. But be because I have finally reconciled what will not be, in spite of what I want. You (I want you).
