Things I would like to do with you – a love letter . . .
I would like to wake up next to you and start my day in your arms. I would like to savor the last few moments before the day begins, clinging to you. I would like to listen to you talk about what makes you most happy. When you talk about the things that frustrate you or wind you into the worst version of yourself, I want to be your calm in the storm. I would like to listen, but also remind you not to let the crazy twist you into a grumpy mess. You let others carry you away. The ones that do this to you are my least favorites. I would like to make you dinner while we talk. I would like to drink my glass of wine while the gratitude fills my heart that you’re there with me. I would like to tell you about my day and the latest dumb theory about my favorite singer’s next album. I would like to tell you about the little girl in line at the grocery store that was wild and likely to be a great success someday. I would like to tell you about the musician I found while scrolling on social media – who reminded me of why I love live music so much. I would like to talk about politics and the state of the world. I would like to be with you in your best and worst moments. I would like to end my day next to you – in the quiet – as the night settles in and the lights dim. I would like for you to never let me go.
